The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Kubernetes

Always wanted to know more about Kubernetes?

On Thursday, September 30th developers of Q42’s Hue team and LessonUp will give insight into the use of Kubernetes in both their architectures.

Scaling the Hue cloud
Backend engineers Herman Banken and Korjan van Wieringen of tech agency Q42 will give an introductory talk on how they’ve scaled the Hue cloud architecture. Over the years, the Hue cloud has evolved substantially, providing reliable remote access to many Hue light bulbs around the world. Herman and Korjan will give insight in the history of the Hue backend and share some details about how the current setup of Kubernetes clusters are managed with GitOps.

Education scaleup LessonUp works on a Kubernetes cluster in Google Cloud. Tech lead Tim Meerhof will talk about the journey of LessonUp as a startup with Kubernetes. About smooth deployments with session stickiness, the ingress and troubleshooting.
Lennart Nederstigt (senior software engineer at LessonUp) wil give a brief overview of Helm and shows how you can leverage it to streamline your application deployments to a Kubernetes cluster.
