Noordzeeboerderij Scheveningen is the launch of a pilot farm for offshore seaweed cultivation.
A growing worldwide demand for food and quality ingredients challenges us to explore new ways of production. Offshore cultivation of seaweeds in the North Sea offers extraordinary perspectives.
Noordzeeboerderij Scheveningen is the launch of a pilot farm for offshore seaweed cultivation. Seaweed cultivation at sea contributes to local employment, sustainable food and biomass production, high quality of the marine ecosystem and, of course, a future-proof and entrepreneurial Scheveningen Haven (Innoport).
The goal of Stichting Noordzeeboerderij is to realize the potential of sustainable seaweed cultivation at sea. With the amount of € 35.000, – we realize an test location off the coast of Scheveningen including a first cultivation test. The project also connects and inspires entrepreneurs in the region. They are the ones who can use seaweed cultivation at sea as an additional business model and possibly as a future core business.
